The Twins come with the same 648cc parallel-twin cylinder engine. This engine produces 47 HP and 53 Nm of torque. The engine works out with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. Currently, these are the only RE bikes that get parallel-twin engines.
The RE 650 Twins record a high speed of 160 km/hr. RE claims that the Twins will deliver a mileage figure of around 25.5 kmpl. The Interceptor is a bit bigger and heavier than the GT 650. For braking, the bikes use front and rear disc brake paired with dual-channel ABS setup.

If you keep both the bikes side by side, you can hardly notice any difference. The only difference seen is in the footpegs, seating arrangement, fuel tank and the height of the handlebar. While Interceptor gets a single long seat as standard fitment, the GT 650 gets it as optional.
Another distinction between the Royal Enfield 650 Twins is the riding style. The Continental GT 650 gets a dedicated seating position, whereas the Interceptor gets a bit relaxed seating position. The main reason is that the GT 650 gets a race-styled clip-on handlebar, rear set footpegs and high set fuel tank.
