The next-generation Honda Civic, its 2018 iteration with a mild facelift that it received recently, is all set to launch in India next year. Recent developments suggest that its launch is likely to take place during the month of February next year. The India-bound Honda Civic made its first public appearance in our country earlier this year at the 2018 Auto Expo.
At the event, Honda confirmed that they are going to launch three new cars in India within the 2018-19 fiscal year. With the launch of the Amaze and CR-V done and dusted, it is quite obvious now the turn of the Civic.

The 2019 Honda Civic (Read More) will compete in the executive sedan segment. It rivals will include the likes of Hyundai Elantra, Skoda Octavia and the Toyota Corolla Altis. Consequently, we are expecting its prices to fall in-between the range of INR 14 lakh to 20 lakh.
We can confirm to you that there are going to be both petrol and diesel engines on offer. In fact, this is the first time that the Honda Civic will launch in India with a diesel derivative. The petrol engine is a 1.8-litre i-VTEC unit. It is capable of producing 140 BHP along with 174 NM of peak torque. The diesel engine, on the other hand, will be a 1.6-litre unit. It power figure will stand at 120 BHP while it will be capable of 300Nm.

The diesel engine is the same unit which we see in the recently launched Honda CR-V. The petrol derivative is going to offer both manual as well as automatic gearbox option. The manual transmission is likely to be a 6-speed unit. On the other hand, the automatic gearbox will most likely be a CVT. So far it seems that there will be no automatic gearbox on offer with the Diesel derivative.
From the outside, the 2019 Honda Civic sure looks quite stunning. In fact, it looks better and sporty in comparison to the immediate competition that it will face in India. Similarly, the interior design is also something which will attract the fancy of many, particularly young buyers. For sure, the new Civic is going to get a host of features and safety kit on board.

Dimensionally, it is going to measure 4,631 mm in length, 2,076 mm in width and 1,416 mm in height. The wheelbase will clock at 2,700 mm.
The executive sedan segment in India is currently not attracting a very huge response. This primarily due to the recent surge in the popularity of urban SUVs. The latter offers the dominating stance along with the same practicality, fuel-efficiency and comfort of the former. But Honda believes that there has been a slight increase in the demand for executive sedans. And hence plans to make the best of it through the launch of the all-new Civic in India.
