Hyundai Grand i10 and Xcent get wireless charging and more features

Hyundai Grand i10 and Hyundai Xcent receive silent feature upgrades in the mid-spec and the top-end trim. The list includes wireless charging, LED DRLs and more. 

In their facelift versions, Hyundai Grand i10 and Xcent are already equipped with top-end features. Now, Hyundai has silently updated both the models with furthermore features.

Hyundai updated both the models in 2017, with the latest features. Many of the features are first in their respective segment. However, despite heavy offering, these two segments are taken over by Maruti Suzuki.

Most of the Hyundai cars fall in second place, behind Maruti in terms of average monthly sales figures. This situation comes in case of Verna, Grand i10, Xcent and Elite i20.

Mid-spec Magna variant of Grand i10 now gets 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with iBlue app. The higher variant, Sportz gets LED DRLs, a rear spoiler and rear AC vents. No changes come in the top-end Asta variant.

The top-end SX variant of Hyundai Xcent now gets a boot mounted spoiler, 7-inch touchscreen system with iBlue app and wireless phone charging. Wireless charging is a segment first feature came earlier in Hyundai Creta, followed by Verna.

With these upgrades, the mid-spec variants of Grand i10 get a minor edge over Maruti Suzuki Swift. Xcent’s feature additions are aimed to provide more stiff competition to Maruti Suzuki Dzire.

Mechanically, Hyundai Grand i10 and Xcent continue with the same engine and transmission. Both the models use a 1.2 Litre petrol engine and a 1.2 Litre diesel engine.

The petrol engine produces 83 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine puts out 73 BHP and 190 Nm of peak torque on tap.

The petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox with an option of 4-speed Automatic Unit. The diesel engine comes only with a manual gearbox.

Features aboard Grand i10 include Keyless Entry, LED DRLs, touchscreen infotainment system, Steering mounted audio controls, Rear AC vents, push-button start-stop, Electric ORVMs and Cooled Glovebox.

Safety features include Rear Parking sensors with a rearview camera, Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Rear Defogger.

Hyundai Xcent comes with the same feature list with additions of wireless charging option. Even the safety features list is same as that of Grand i10.

The prices of Hyundai Grand i10 start off at Rs 4.91 Lakhs going up to Rs 7.02 Lakhs for the petrol variant. The diesel variant starts off at Rs 6.07 Lakhs up to Rs 7.50 Lakhs.

Xcent is priced starting from Rs 5.63 Lakhs up to Rs 7.74 Lakhs for petrol variants. The prices of diesel variant start at Rs 6.55 Lakhs up to Rs 8.67 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom Delhi).
