India Bound Volkswagen Virtus sedan gets a GTS Concept

Volkswagen Virtus sedan is soon going to make its debut in India as a replacement of the ageing Vento c-segment sedan. Its GTS Concept has been unveiled at the ongoing Sao Paulo Motor Show in Brazil.

The Volkswagen Virtus, the German automaker’s C-Segment sedan, currently on sale in several international markets is soon to receive a souped-up version. At the ongoing Sao Paulo Motor Show, Volkswagen has revealed the Volkswagen Virtus GTS concept. The performance-oriented iteration of the Virtus comes with a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine which is good for 150 BHP of power output. The engine is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

In addition to the 1.4-litre petrol motor, the Volkswagen Virtus (Read More) GTS concept comes with an additional body kit, larger alloy wheels, added interiors bits, a new grille in comparison to the standard iterations of this sedan.

The Volkswagen Vitus sedan, in the international markets, is the replacement for the Volkswagen Vento. The German automaker plans to launch the standard iteration of this c-segment sedan in India soon. Based on the MQB-A0 platform, when it comes to India, will get a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine. Whether the GTS iteration makes it to India remains to be seen.

The launch of the Volkswagen Virtus sedan in India is likely to happen sometime during late 2020. In addition to the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, there is going to be a diesel engine in the model lineup as well. Transmission duties will be carried by manual as well as an automatic gearbox.

The Volkswagen Virtus sedan is going to have several creature comforts and features. Automatic headlamps, LED units, rain-sensing wipers along with touchscreen infotainment system are some of the features that you can expect and then some more. This Sedan will score high when it comes to its safety list as well.

The MQB-A0 platform that the Virtus uses will spawn a number of future products for the Volkswagen group in India. The first of these and ahead of the Virtus will be the Volkswagen T-Cross SUV. This will be followed by Skoda’s version of the T-Cross SUV. And soon enough after the launch of the Virtus, there will be the successor to the Rapid as well, based on this very platform.

Being a C-Segment sedan, the competition is going to be with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the Toyota Yaris.
