The Mahindra XUV 300 or the S201 compact SUV set to launch in India sometime next year, has been recently caught testing during its high speed run on a video.
The SsangYong Tivoli based compact SUV when launched in India is going to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. In fact, going by what we have heard so far, it is likely that some it’s top end variants might event pitch against the Hyundai Creta.
Mahindra has recently launched another rebadged SsangYong SUV in India, the Alturas. This premium SUV, apart from Mahindra badging and some minor design tweaks, is an exact replica of the SsangYong Rexton currently on sale in the European market.
Just like the Alturas, the Mahindra XUV 300 is going to have all the aesthetic features of the SsangYong Tivoli. That said, as is the case with the Alturas, it will also support minor styling tweaks in order to make it look like a Mahindra.

When the XUV 300 makes its debut in India, it is expected to have several segment first features.
For instance, we believe that this compact SUV will get a dual-zone climate control unit. Furthermore, top-end variants can even feature a sunroof. It is also like to come with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather upholstery.
Apart from these, the Mahindra XUV 300 is also going to come with a touchscreen infotainment system capable of Android Auto and Apple Car Play. It will also come with LED projector headlamps, LED tail-lamps and automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers among other features.

The XUV 300 is going to launch with both petrol as well as diesel engines. Both these engines are developed in-house by Mahindra.
The diesel engine is going to be the same unit which made its debut on the recently launched Marazzo MPV. It is a 1.5-litre oil-burner which generates 120 BHP along with 300 Nm of peak torque.
The petrol engine is also going to be a 1.5-litre unit. The specifications of this engine are still under the wraps. However, speculations put the power figures of this engine close to 120 BHP.

As standard, both these derivatives are going to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. We are still not sure if Mahindra is going to launch an automatic variant of the XUV 300 at the time of launch.
Talking about the prices, expect the Mahindra XUV 300 to cost somewhere in-between the range of INR 7 lakh to 11 lakh. The competition will include the likes of Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
