New Honda 150cc scooters are in consideration due to the increasing demand for more powerful scooters. However, this development will take time and the launches might take place by 2020.
Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India is the biggest player in the scooter market. Surely, the Activa range has helped Honda in this achievement. It has a couple of models across the 110cc and 125cc segment, out of which, all are performing quite well. After tasting success in these two segments, Honda is considering to put a step in the 150cc scooter segment. However, new Honda 150cc scooters are just being considered and might launch in India after 2020. The scooter segment is currently divided into 110cc, 125cc and 150cc segment.
Talking about its plans with Moneycontrol, HMSI is considering the option of Honda 150cc scooters. However, the maker will consider this after all its models pass through BS-VI norms. The norms will kick in from April 2020. As of now, Honda wants to focus on BS-6 norms, which is a great challenge for them.

As of now, there are 3 scooters in the 150cc segment. The list includes Aprilia SR 150, Vespa SXL 150 and VXL 150. With Aprilia, the 150cc segment was explored for the first time. Approximately 2000 units of 150cc scooters are sold in India every month.
Now, HMSI states that the figures will increase with time. As we notice the sales figures of the past couple of months, the 125cc segment is also increasing rapidly. 125cc scooters are more powerful and offer better features than 110cc ones. Now, almost every scooter brand has tried its hand in the 125cc segment.

Usually, 125cc scooters are preferred for highway and long daily commuting. 110cc scooters usually lack enough juice for long commuting. Likewise, 150cc scooters are even better suitable for long rides. With the increasing power, the mileage figures are likely to drop down.
Honda is not the first to consider 150cc scooters. TVS and Yamaha have also thought about this segment. Yamaha NMax scooter and TVS Graphite are rumoured 150cc models for India. NMax is powered by R15 V3’s 155cc engine, but with lesser power figures. Yamaha, Suzuki and even Honda have 150cc and more powerful scooters in their global lineup.

HMSI is known to aggressively place its scooters amongst its rivals. Activa and Grazia are two great examples. IF Honda 150cc scooters are considered, Honda might price them between Rs 75,000 to Rs 80,000 for a stiff competition. The other 3 150cc models are also priced similarly.
