The Future S concept showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo is set to launch in India next year could bear the name ‘new Maruti Zen’.
The iconic hatchback’s identity is likely to transform itself into a Micro-SUV as Maruti Suzuki plans to launch an all-new compact utility vehicle in India.
This new vehicle will take up its place below the Vitara Brezza sub-compact SUV.
It main rivalry is going to be with the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Micro-SUVs from Hyundai and Tata Motors.

New Maruti Zen (Y1K) – Price In India
The new Maruti Small Car, Zen is expected to be priced between Rs 5.5 Lakh to Rs 7.5 Lakh (ex-showroom).
The price, slightly higher than Alto, will provide for all the updated features and technology.
The pricing will be perfect for any entry level micro SUV making it sit below the Vitara Brezza and in-between the Alto and the Ignis.

New Maruti Zen (Y1K)- Launch Date
Recent developments suggest that the new Zen or the Y1K is going to launch in India during the second half of 2019.
The launch is likely to happen in-between the festive season that year.

New Maruti Zen (Y1K)- Engine Specifications
The car might come in two engine variants – 796cc 3 Cylinder MPFI and 999cc 3 Cylinder MPFI.
The 796 CC engine will produce 47.3 BHP worth of power and 69 Nm worth of torque. On the other hand, the 999 CC engine offers 67.1 BHP worth of power and 90 Nm worth of torque.
It is expected that the top variant might also give an optional AMT. The mileage expected is anything between 22 KMPL to 24 KMPL. The engine will be shared by both the Alto twins and Crosshiker.

New Maruti Zen (Y1k)- Mileage
As mentioned before, this new small car is going to come with Maruti’s tried and tested 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre engine options.
With this and a light chassis, thanks to its compact dimensions, the new Zen will have very commendable fuel-efficiency figures.
Hence, for the 0.8-litre variant, expect a claimed mileage figure of 20 km/l. While for the 1.0-litre spec version, expect the mileage to be around 22 km/l.

New Maruti Zen (Y1K)- Exteriors
Although the design details of the new Maruti small car are still under the wraps, we expect it to feature SUV-like upright design and a high ground clearance.
The car might get an aerodynamic design with LED DRLs and fog lamps as basic features. It is also speculated to come with a crossover design.
What we do know so far is that this car will be derived right from the Concept Future S. This concept vehicle features a very bold and rugged stance like an SUV yet maintaining its compact aesthetics.
New Maruti Zen (Y1K)- Interiors
The new Maruti small car might bet proper fabric upholstery and classy interiors.
Maruti will be giving a bigger cabin space to the car with comfort features like back seat headrests, armrests and such.
The top end version might receive a lot of updates but yet it isn’t confirmed. The update might include a new style steering wheel, facelifted dashboard and more.

Renault Kwid offers a variety of features for an entry-level car.
The top end variant offers touch infotainment system, digital clusters with gear shift indicators and the basic safety features.
