Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 and 500 ABS launched!

In the latest, Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 and 500 ABS has been introduced in the market. With this, almost all the Royal Enfield bikes now have a dual-channel ABS setup.

One of the very last ones left in the lineup, Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 and 500 have also received their ABS variants. Just a week ago, Thunderbird 350X and 500X ABS were launched silently.

Thunderbird 350 ABS goes for Rs 1.54 Lakhs and Thunderbird 500 ABS goes for Rs 2.01 Lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai). The on-road prices of 350 go up to Rs 1.83 Lakhs and that of 500 go up to Rs 2.44 Lakhs. Both the motorcycles are now available across dealerships.

As of now, only Royal Enfield ES and Standard are left to get ABS. By the end of this year, we expect the whole Royal Enfield lineup to be equipped with ABS.

Anti Braking System has proven very important especially for two-wheelers. It prevents the locking of tires while hard braking thus prevents skidding of the two-wheeler. The government has now made it mandatory for all two-wheelers above 125cc to come with ABS setup.

Very hard to believe, Thunderbird series is the only actual cruiser in RE’s lineup. The rest of the bike came known as a cruiser, rather than street racers. Thunderbird follows a relaxed seating position with a bit higher placed handlebars. It also offers a rear backrest, which is optional in other RE bikes.

Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 is also available in an urban-street version, by the name Thunderbird 350X. Same is the case with Thunderbird 500.

The 350 cruiser uses a 346cc air-cooled TwinSpark engine. The engine produces 19.8 BHP and 28 Nm of peak torque. This 350cc engine is used in every other 350cc RE bike.

The Thunderbird 500 uses a 499cc that puts out 27 BHP and 41.3 Nm of peak torque.

For transmission purposes, both the motorcycles pair up with a 5-speed gearbox linked with a chain drive.

The features onboard Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 and 500 include a semi-digital twin-pod instrument cluster, projector headlights, split seats and LED tail light. Now, it also comes with dual-channel ABS setup.

For suspension duties, the bikes use conventional telescopic forks up front and gas-charged twin-shock absorbers at the back. Braking is done via 280mm discs up front and 240mm disc brakes at the back.

Meanwhile, Royal Enfield 650 twins have been launched in India. Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 starts off at Rs 2.5 Lakhs and Continental GT 650 starts off at Rs 2.65 Lakhs onwards. Interceptor is a classic roadster and Continental GT is a pure cafe racer.
