Soon, 6500 Public Electric vehicle charging outlets by EV Motors in India

EV Motors India Pvt Ltd in partnership with DLF, Delta Electronics India and ABB India launched their first public EV charging outlet named ‘PLugNgo’ in Gurugram. Over a span of 5 years, EV motors aim to install over 6500 charging outlets across smart cities in India. For achieving this goal, the company will require an investment of USD 200 million. The chargers will be interconnected and networked over a cloud-based integrated software platform.

“For the nation to progress towards the vision of a large fleet of EVs across the country, a  co-ordinated approach between Real Estate Developers, Vehicle OEMs, and Charger Manufacturers is necessary,” said Mr. Vinit Bansal, Managing Director, EV Motors. For the national capital region, EVM Motors plans to set up 20 outlets over the course of the next 12 months.

The company will soon expand to other cities including Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Amritsar, Bhubaneshwar, Cochin, Indore, and Chennai. The company also added that various service centres and help centres will also be installed in the above-mentioned cities.

The company aims to provide a customized installation support, and remote vehicle charging and e-payments through their native PlugNgo mobile app based on iOS and Android mobile platforms. The charging station will be well compliant with both the Indian and international standards. These standards include standards set by the Bureau of Indian Standards, the Combined Charging System (CCS), and the Charge De Move (CHAdeMO).

EVM Motors aims to install over 6500 charging outlets across India which will also support electric bikes, electric buses, three-wheelers, and other passenger electric vehicles. In order to achieve this goal, an investment of USD 200 million would be required and the company aims to deliver by partnering with DLF, Delta Electronics, and ABB India.

This comes in as a great step towards our government’s plan for replacing one-third of all passenger vehicles in India with Electric options. It is a nice step in the direction of the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan of 2013.
