Tata Harrier is reportedly going to launch in January 2019. We speculated that a 7-seater version of Harrier might be under consideration. Now, we can confirm it as we have the first spy pics of the 7-seater variant. It was spotted testing in Bangalore under heavy camouflage. The 7-seater variant might debut in India sometime after the launch of Harrier 5-seater variant. This extended version will take on the likes of Honda CR-V, Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming Mahindra Alturas.

From the front and the side, it looks very identical to the Harrier. Based on the looks, it seems to be a bit bigger and brawny from the Hexa as well. Of course, Tata will position it over Hexa as well as 5-seater Harrier.

Most Tata Harrier 7-seater variant will use the 5-seater variant’s powertrain. It might use the same 2.0 Litre KYROTEC diesel engine, a rebadged version of Fiat’s 2-litre Multijet engine. The engine puts out 170 BHP max. and 350 Nm peak torque. Since it is a bigger SUV, Tata might offer the same engine with slightly higher power figures.

Tata Harrier sits on the new OMEGA platform, which comes Land Rover’s J8 platform. Harrier’s platform is basically a localized and affordable J8 platform. The OMEGA platform is useful to define Harrier’s off-roading ability.

After Tata revealed the official exterior photos of Harrier, the latest news suggests that it will get premium features such as a cooled storage near the centre armrest and dedicated smartphone slots. Other than that, it gets LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lights and front and rear fog lamps.
