The Tata Harrier SUV is going to launch in India during the month of January next year.
Recently, Tata Motors released the first official images of the Harrier.
Not only this, but the homegrown automaker has also commenced the official bookings of this SUV this month.
The Harrier is based on the modified D8 platform borrowed from Land Rover, the British automobile manufacturer in which Tata owns a majority stake.
The production version of this SUV resembles its concept iteration to a great extent. Which is exactly what Tata had promised at the time of the unveiling of the Harrier concept version, the H5X at the 2018 Auto Expo.

Tata Harrier – Launch date

Tata Motors has been feeding us with a number of teasers ahead of the official launch of the Harrier SUV.
In once such teaser the company confirmed that this SUV is going to get a 2.0-litre, Kryotec diesel engine.
This engine will generate a peak power output of 140 BHP along with a torque figure of 350 Nm.
The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The interesting thing to note here is that at the time of launch, the Harrier is not going to offer an automatic variant.
Rather than this, the automatic variant will only make its debut with the 7-seater iteration of this SUV. The former is expected to launch in India sometime during the second half of 2019.

Tata Harrier – Design
Tata H5X will be based on the new Tata Motors’ Impact 2.0 design philosophy.
Also, it will be sharing the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced (OMEGA) platform which is found in Range Rover Discovery Sport. Like said, it might take a lot of underpinnings from the Discovery Sport.
The car might come with a 4-wheel drive and would have multiple driving modes. Also, there might be a specially tuned mode for off-road driving.

Tata Harrier – Exteriors
The H5X gets the boldface and the slim LED headlights giving it a mean look.
It also comes with the company’s trademark ‘humanity line’ that connects the headlights and grille.
All this makes the car look bolder and sharper.
The Tata H5X will feature flared wheel arches, the tri-arrow design on the front bumper, dual-tone bumper, LED headlight, wraparound tail light cluster and skid plate.
Tata Harrier – Interiors:
Interestingly, H5X gets a clutter-free design and the material quality of the interiors display a sense of class.
The car might get a digital console displaying things like the whole body of the car, traffic sense and such.
It will also get a high-end touch infotainment system with climate control, voice control commands and such.
Various reports suggest that everything displayed will be digital and via a touchscreen.

After it is launched, it will mainly compete with Hyundai Tucson, upcoming Honda C-RV, Isuzu MU-X, Mahindra XUV 500 and Jeep Compass.
This segment offers premium SUVs, which attracts a lot of buyers. Most of them have either received an update this year or will receive one in the next year.
However, the H5X will make a late entry into this market. Currently, the MPV Tata Hexa is available in this segment.
