The Swift has always been and continues to be a major volume player for Maruti Suzuki in India. The premium compact hatchback, which recently received its third generation update has now cracked the 2 million sales milestone in India.
Maruti Swift, currently running in its third generation, recorded a 36% sales growth during the period of April – Oct 2018.
During the same period, this hatchback increased its market share to about 29%.
The current generation of the Maruti Swift made its debut in India in the month of February this year.
Launched at a very competitive price, it took no time to cement its place in the list of India’s top 10 best-selling cars.
Consequently, the waiting period for this car also reached soaring heights. As a result of this, Maruti Suzuki had to increase the production of this hatchback in order to reduce the waiting period.
