The launch of Bajaj Dominar 200 is still in rumours. A less powerful Dominar would increase daily practicality and popularity of the Dominar lineup. Here we have written our expectations, launch date, prices and more.
Bajaj Dominar 400 is the most powerful and technologically advanced motorcycle on the lineup. Despite having a rather affordable price tag, its monthly sales average has been decreasing drastically.
Introducing a mini-Dominar of 200cc would give the buyers a commuter-friendly power cruiser. We all know maintaining a 400cc bike proves costly and the mileage figures are also not that great.
While the Dominar looks good and comfortable, but a fuel-efficient Dominar would be better, right? So check out what we expect about this power cruiser and get details of its possible launch, price range and specifications.

Bajaj Dominar 200 – Launch Date
Launch Date | 2019 |
While we think the Bajaj Dominar 200 will come to the market in 2019. This is because the bike looks quite striking (more on this later) and in concept form, it attracted many eyeballs at previous auto expos.

Bajaj Dominar 200 – Price In India
Standard variant Price* | Rs 1,15,000 |
ABS Variant Price* | Rs 1,25,000 |
*estimated prices ex-showroom Delhi
The Bajaj Dominar 200 will make use of the same engine as the Pulsar RS 200 (derived from KTM 200 Duke/RC 200). Also, it will be detuned a bit in the in the application. To keep costs in check, we think it will come with a single-channel ABS unit.
Bajaj Dominar 200 – Engine Specifications
Engine displacement and type | 200cc, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, SOHC, single cylinder |
Power | 21 BHP |
Torque | 16Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed |
Suspension (front/rear) | Telescopic forks/Nitrox monoshock |
Brakes (front/rear) | Single 300mm disc with ABS/Single 230mm disc |
Like we said earlier, the Dominar 200’s specs will be similar to those of Pulsar RS 200. The difference arises in power and torque figures, which are on the lower side for the smaller Dominar. However, the rest of the components should stay the same. Another thing to note here is that this bike will have retuned suspension. Expect its gear ratios to also be redone.

Bajaj Dominar 200 – Mileage
City Mileage | 36 kmpl |
Highway Mileage | 40 kmpl |
Having a detuned engine in comparison to Pulsar RS 200 means the Dominar 200 will offer better mileage. However, don’t expect it to offer way better mileage over its Pulsar counterpart. This is because the Pulsar RS 200 has a full fairing to help it in the aerodynamics department. The Dominar 200? Well, let’s just wish the wind blast is manageable at highway speeds on this bike.
Bajaj Dominar 200 – Top Speed
Top Speed | 130 kmph |
In its detuned state, the 200cc engine of Dominar 200 should be able to push it to a top speed of 130kmph. Again, the lack of a fairing hurt this bike’s chances of doing higher speeds. The engine’s detuned state is of no help to the bike in this department either.

- Fuel-injected engine

Just like any other Bajaj motorcycle, the Dominar 200 is packed with features. Yes, it does have to cut some corners to keep costs down. However, the bike 200 still offers quite a list of features for its price, which is commendable.

Bajaj Dominar 200 – Dimensions
Kerb Weight | 182 Kgs |
Length | 2156 mm |
Width | 813 mm |
Height | 1112 mm |
Wheelbase | 1453 mm |
Ground Clearance | 157 mm |
The Dominar 200 will basically measure the same as the Dominar 400. It will weigh around 182 Kgs and will be 813 mm wide.
Bajaj Dominar 200 – Design Review
The elder sibling of the Dominar 200, the Dominar 400, has a universally-likable design. Bajaj touts this design to be inspired by a lion’s stance. The fact is that this bike looks well-proportioned. Since wires have been hidden well, the exposed bits like engine look clean on this bike. Expect this bike to look similar to maintain that familiarity, in terms of design, with its elder sibling. We do think that Bajaj will give it different alloy wheels to ensure it can be differentiated from its elder brother with ease. Also, it may not have LED DRLs to keep costs down. For this very reason, Bajaj may use projector headlamps (Pulsar 220) on the 200 than LED headlamps from the 400.

Bajaj Dominar 200 – Variants
The Dominar 200 will come in 2 variants, which are as follows:

Bajaj Dominar 200 – Colors
Like the Dominar 400, the 200 will also come in three color options, which are as follows:
- Rock Matte Black
- Glacier Blue
- Canyon Red
Bajaj Dominar 200 – Competition
If the bike is launched, it will mainly compete with sub-200 CC sports bikes along with the sub 200 CC cruisers. Within sports bikes, it will face competition with Apache RTR 2004V, Bajaj Pulsar NS200, KTM Duke 200 and more. Within cruisers, it will compete with Avenger Street 220, Avenger Cruise 220 and Suzuki Intruder. However, the pricing will be an advantage here. A lot of the bikes who have a lesser specs engine, compete with Dominar 400 on its pricing. So, the Dominar 200 might have a good hand over here as it will cost anything around Rs 1.10 Lakhs to Rs 1.25 Lakhs.
