Fresh reports say that Datsun Redi-GO will receive a facelift in 2019. Currently, it is one of the most popular entry-level hatchbacks in India. It competes with the likes of Maruti Alto 800. 

Datsun Redi-GO is the most affordable model in Datsun’s lineup as well as in Nissan’s. The entry-level hatchback is a quite popular choice among first-time buyers. However, it faces competition from the giant Maruti Alto 800.

ET Auto reports that Redi-GO is due for a facelift next year. The hatchback has not received any facelift since its first launch in 2016. Last year, it received a 1.0 Litre variant and this year it got AMT in its top-end variant.

Nissan-Datsun has been showing poor sales figures for the previous few months. Nissan hopes to revive its sales with the upcoming Kicks SUV. However, the facelift of Datsun GO and GO+ sparked some interest in the buyers, but not to that extent.

As per the reports, Datsun Redi-GO will get a refreshed look with some visual upgrades over the bodywork. It will look identical to the current one, with some revisions to the front and rear bumpers.

Most importantly, it will get enhanced safety features, making it compliant to the upcoming safety norms. Expect the facelift to come with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist and Rear Parking sensors as standard fitment. The top-end variant could come with a rear parking camera.

Meanwhile, the engine specifications of Datsun Redi-GO facelift will remain same. It will continue with the same 0.8 Litre and 1.0 Litre engines. The 800cc engine produces 54 BHP and 72 Nm of peak torque. The bigger engine delivers 68 BHP and 91 Nm of peak torque.

Both the engines come with 5-speed manual gearbox as standard fitment. The 1.0 Litre variant is equipped with an optional 5-speed AMT.

Features onboard will include a touchscreen infotainment system, tilt adjustable steering wheel, electrically adjustable ORVMs, revised instrument cluster and front fog lamps on the top variants.

Currently, the Datsun Redi-GO starts at Rs 2.56 Lakhs going up to Rs 4.17 Lakhs for the top-end AMT variant. With the facelift, the prices would increase by Rs 5,000 or a nearing amount.

It will continue to rival against Maruti Alto. The entry-level Maruti hatchback garners over 20,000 units every month, compared to Redi-GO’s 1,500 units on an average. Its earlier direct rival was Tata Nano, which has now been shut. With the facelift in tow, Datsun can improve the sales figures of Datsun Redi-GO.
