For the month of November 2018, a total of 22,191 units of the Maruti Swift were dispatched to the dealerships. In contrast, during the same month last year, the number for the units dispatched stood at 13, 337.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is currently running in its third generation iteration in India. It received its latest generation update during the month of February 2018. The debut took place at this year Delhi Auto Expo.

Right from the launch, the new iteration of this hatchback was in a considerable demand. Even today, almost 10 months after its launch, customers have to wait at least a month before getting deliveries, depending upon the colour and variant chosen.

For its 2018 update, the Maruti Swift gets an all-new platform. It’s underpinning i.e. the lightweight HEARTECT platform from Suzuki is the same which we see on the Brezza, Baleno, Ignis and the new Dzire.

In addition to an all-new platform, the alteration in its design also makes the new iteration of the Swift appeal more youthful, be it the exteriors or the interiors.

The new Maruti Swift comes with features such as projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car play among other features.

With this generation update, this hatchback also comes with safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorage and rear parking sensors as standard. However, in the recently conducted Global NCAP safety tests, the new Swift scored a rather underwhelming two-stars.

This third generation update for the Maruti Swift carry forwards only one aspect of the previous generation iterations. This is its powertrains options. It still comes with the same petrol and diesel engines.

The petrol derivative of the 2018 Maruti Swift comes with a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder, VT engine. This engine is capable of producing 82 BHP of power along with 114 Nm of peak torque. The diesel derivative, on the other hand, gets a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder DDiS oil-burner. This engine is capable of churning out 74 BHP of power along with 190 NM of peak torque.

Both the engines come as standard with a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, with this new generation iteration, Maruti Suzuki has introduced a 5-speed AMT unit across both petrol as well as diesel derivatives.

Currently, the prices of the Maruti Swift fall in-between the range of INR 4.80 lakh to INR 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom).
