Maruti Swift RS is expected to debut the Indian markets in the first quarter of 2019. It will use Baleno RS’s 1.0 Litre Turbocharged petrol engine. The hot-hatch will compete against Tata Tiago JTP.
The 3rd generation of Maruti Suzuki Swift saw the hatchback looking more sportier than ever. Along with the visual upgrades, it also got 100 kgs lighter, which made it peppier than ever.
Financial Express reports that Maruti Swift RS is going to launch in India in the first quarter of 2019. The sportier Swift must have been planned to owe to the success of Baleno RS in the Indian markets.
The hot-hatchback will receive visual upgrades along with the Boosterjet engine. Like Baleno RS, Swift RS will also be based on the top-end ZXi variant.

Globally, the sportier version of Swift is already sold at large. Swift Sport comes with a 1.4 Litre Turbocharged petrol engine, that pumps out 140 BHP and 240 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
However, Maruti Swift RS would be completely different. It will come with the 1.0 Litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 101 BHP and 150 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Visual upgrades will include side skirts, bumper revisions and a new set of alloy wheels on the exterior. New sportier seat upholstery and an all-black interior are expected on Maruti Swift RS.

The regular Maruti Swift uses a 1.2 Litre petrol engine that produces 82 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque. So, a difference or around 20 BHP will be offered in Maruti Swift RS.
The hot-hatchback will primarily go against Tata Tiago JTP. Tiago hot-hatch was recently launched. It gets a 1.2 Litre Revotron turbo-charged petrol engine, that produces 115 BHP and 150 Nm of peak torque. Transmission used in a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Maruti Swift RS will come with premium features such as LED projector headlamps, Smart Play infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Auto AC, Steering mounted audio controls and more. The safety features will include ABS with EBD and BA, Dual front airbags, Rear Parking sensors and a rearview camera.

The pricing of Maruti Swift RS is expected to be just below the top-end ZDi+ variant. The same pricing strategy is observed with Baleno RS. So, we expect it to be priced around Rs 7.9 Lakhs. At this price, it also competes toughly with the Tiago JTP, which comes at a near pricing range.
