MG Motors plans to launch around 4 SUVs in India by the next 2-3 years. The first one to launch in India will be the Baojun 530 B-segment SUV, followed by more models by 2022.
Chinese Automotive Giant SAIC is going to launch MG-badged SUVs in India. The first SUV, Baojun 530 will be launching by Q2 of 2019. The first launch will be a B-Segment SUV, competing with the likes of Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV 500.
Earlier in July, we reported that MG Motors has started testing the SUVs in India. Now, recently, Baojun 530 has been spotted testing under heavy camouflage. As the launch nears, the testing will increase and so will the details.
Fresh reports suggest that MG Motors will launch around 4 SUVs in India by 2022. It includes a B-Segment SUV, a sub-4-metre SUV, an Electric SUV and a C-Segment SUV. As of now, these 4 models are reported to launch in India.

The Automaker plans to launch a new SUV every year. Starting with the 7-seater Baojun 530, it plans to put an Electric SUV in the second launch. As per reports, MG E ZS Electric SUV will be launched in India by 2020.
After E-SUV, the brand has plans for a C-segment SUV, which competes against the likes of Hyundai Creta. Reports say that it will be a rebadged version of Baojun 510 SUV. Lastly, it might introduce a sub-4-metre SUV to take on the likes of Tata Nexon and Maruti Vitara Brezza.
As of now, very limited details are known about Baojun 530. It is expected to be equipped with premium features as it undercuts the price of its competitors. Since it is launching in 2019, we expect the SUV to come with BS-6 compliant engines.

Features onboard expected include electrically adjustable driver seat, panoramic sunroof, LED projector headlamps, front and rear parking sensors and much more. More features are definitely expected on the SUV.
Reports suggest that it will likely come with a 1.5 Litre petrol engine and a 2.0 Litre diesel engine, borrowed from Fiat Multijet series. Also, there are chances of no manual gearbox on offer. The petrol variant might be paired with a CVT gearbox and the diesel one might use a simpler Torque converter unit.
Most probably, its price will be less than Rs 20 Lakhs. so, we expect a pricing range of Rs 12 Lakhs to Rs 16 Lakhs (ex-showroom).

As said earlier, it will go against Harrier, Compass and XUV500. In this segment, XUV 500 and Compass garner enough sales.
