The Mazda CX-5 SUV has gained a series of revisions for 2019, including the addition of a new range-topping GT Sport Nav+ trim.
The new trim sits above the existing Sport Nav+ and comes loaded with extra standard kit, such as 19-inch alloy wheels, a 7-inch colour display between the dials, a higher grade of leather trim for seats - which gain ventilation in the front and heating in the back - and LED ambient lighting. Cosmetic upgrades inside include a mix of wood and satin chrome trim inlays, a new steering wheel with unique stitching and chrome trim, black roof lining, and a frameless rear view mirror.

The CX-5’s safety pack, offered optionally in lesser models, is standard on the GT Sport Nav+. That means adaptive LED headlights, a driver attention alert system, rear smart city brake support and a 360 surround view camera are all included.
In addition to the new trim level, every revised CX-5 now gains both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. All CX-5s get a dual climate control system - adjusted through an updated control panel - as standard.
Sport Nav+ models now get a reversing camera, electric driver’s seat, keyless entry, heated front seats and steering wheel, a head-up display and a powered tailgate.
The CX-5 is one of the sharpest cars to drive in its class, but Mazda has tried to improve its dynamics further with a series of suspension modifications. The changes include a thicker front and smaller rear anti-roll bars, new front stabiliser bushes, rear damper top mounts and tweaked damper valves. Combined with an updated yaw control system, it’s claimed to make the CX-5 both sharper to drive and more stable.
Power comes from an unchanged engine line-up which features a 163bhp petrol engine and two diesel engines, making 148bhp and 181bhp respectively. All models are offered with a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes, though buyers looking for four-wheel drive are limited to the most powerful diesel.
The updated 2019 CX-5 is available to order now, with prices starting from £25,595 and climbing to £37,195.
