Skoda has announced the new Octavia SportLine hatch and estate. The models sit below the range-topping Octavia vRS, adding a range of sports-inspired trim, a new body kit and more technology to the SE trim level. Prices start at £25,120 for the base model hatch, rising to £27,860 for the range-topping estate.
Styling revisions over the standard Octavia include a new, gloss black front splitter, a gloss black grille, new door mirrors, a revised rear diffuser, 18-inch alloy wheels, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, LED daytime running lights and adaptive headlights.
Buyers have the choice of two engines: a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol acts as the base model, offering 148bhp and 250Nm of torque. It feeds its power to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox as standard (or an optional DSG), providing a claimed 0–62mph sprint of 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 139mph.
For an extra £1,540, buyers can have a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel, with 148bhp and 340Nm of torque. The diesel is only available with a DSG, providing a 0–62mph sprint of 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 137mph.
Interior additions over the SE model include an Amundsen satellite navigation system with an eight-inch infotainment screen, an integrated WiFi hotspot, sports seats, black headlining and a three-spoke leather sports steering wheel.
