SsangYong Tivoli range revised for 2019 with new diesel

Ssangyong has revised its Tivoli compact crossover range, with a new diesel engine, tweaked panelling and more technology

Ssangyong has revised the Tivoli and Tivoli XLV ranges with a new Euro 6-compliant diesel engine, slightly revised bumpers and a fresh range of technology. Prices for the standard Tivoli start from £14,495, while the Tivoli XLV ‘estate’ starts from £19,745. Both models come with Ssangyong’s seven-year, 150,000-mile warranty.

Two engines are available across the Tivoli range, with buyers given the choice of a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol or the new Euro 6-compliant 1.6-litre four-cylinder diesel. The former produces 126bhp and 160Nm of torque, while the latter musters 113bhp and 300Nm of torque. Both engines can be specified with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.

As standard, the Tivoli SE petrol comes with 16-inch steel wheels, electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors, electric windows front and rear, air conditioning, cruise control, and Bluetooth connectivity. For an extra £1,000, buyers can spec Ssangyong’s EX trim level, which adds 16-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, faux-leather upholstery.

The mid-range ELX trim is available with either the petrol or diesel engine. Priced from £16,995, it adds a range of chrome, stainless steel and leather interior trim, as well as dual-zone automatic air conditioning and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Ssangyong’s range-topping Ultimate trim level starts from £18,995 and gets 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED fog lamps and front and rear parking sensors. TomTom navigation is also included, along with a suite of additional safety equipment, such as traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assist and high beam assist.

The new Tivoli XLV is only available in the range-topping Ultimate trim, with prices starting from £19,745. Buyers can choose from either the petrol or diesel engine, with the latter carrying a £1,500 premium over the former. The XLV also features variable speed hill descent control and an ‘auto closing’ function linked to the central locking system.
