Alpine has teased what could be a more powerful version of the A110 sports car across its social media channels.
The new model, which is anticipated to be a hardcore variant of the brand’s Porsche Cayman and Audi TT adversary, is set to be revealed between the 15 and 16 of June at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
When it reaches the UK market, it will act as a rival to the more potent Porsche 718 Cayman S, Audi TT S and the brand new, resurrected Toyota Supra. However, it’s anticipated to have more of a track focus than those cars.
We expect the new, high-performance Alpine A110 will use the same turbocharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as the new Renault Megane RS, with respective power and torque figures of 296bhp and 400Nm. Like the current car, it will feed its power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
Alpine’s teaser images hint that the A110’s new, performance-focussed variant will feature a pair of heavily-bolstered, leather-and-Alcantara-trimmed sports seats and redesigned badging, with an orange and carbon-fibre plaque in place of the standard car’s tricolore insignia. Orange highlights are also expected throughout the interior and exterior.
