Cupra, SEAT’s performance spin-off brand has released a teaser image for its latest all-electric coupe-SUV concept. The prototype model previews the Spanish firm’s future design language, as well as its plans for electrification. It will be unveiled in full at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

Cupra claims its latest concept combines “the presence of an SUV” with “the sleekness of a sports coupe.” Its shares many of its design features with the forthcoming Cupra Fomentor coupe-SUV, such as its sharply tapering roofline and full-width rear light bar.

The concept also features illuminated badges on both the front and rear bumpers. The front badge sits low on the car’s front valance, while the rear badge is incorporated into the prototype’s rear light.

The concept’s styling has been penned with efficiency and aerodynamics in mind. Cupra claims the vents across the SUV’s nose have been designed to provide the maximum possible driving range and, thanks to its lack of exhaust pipes, the concept’s rear diffuser supplies functional downforce.

This concept SUV is the only Cupra model to use a 100 percent electric drivetrain. The Spanish company is yet to confirm any details about the prototype’s platform or drivetrain, but we expect it will be based on a modified version of the Volkswagen Group’s all-electric MEB platform, which also underpins the SEAT el-Born concept.
