Benelli Leoncino 250 Reportedly Launching In India By This Week

Fresh reports reveal that the smaller Benelli Leoncino 250 is likely to debut in India by this weekend. It replaces the naked street motorcycle, TNT25.

Benelli recently launched the Leoncino 500, as its second new offering, after the TRK 502. The two-wheeler maker had a couple of motorcycles earlier as well, but the last two come from its new partnership with AARI.

By Diwali this month, Benelli is also launching the Imperiale 400, a retro-styled cruiser. One look at its styling is sure for everyone to guess its competition. None other than the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and Bullet 350.

However, fresh report from Autocar India also suggests that the Benelli Leoncino 250 might be launched earlier. It looks very similar to the Leoncino 500, just missing out on the headlamp and graphics from the bigger brother.

Benelli Leoncino 250 is one of the entry-level motorcycles of the manufacturer. It gets TNT25’s engine, the 249cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The motor is capable of producing 25.8 BHP and 21.2 Nm of peak torque.

Unlike the Leoncino 500, the smaller one sits on a new steel-trellis chassis as well as a new swingarm and suspension. All these components are specially made for the Leoncino 250. It also gets a new fully digital instrument console.

For suspension, it uses USD forks at the front and a mono-shock at the back. Single disc brakes on both the ends with dual-channel ABS handle the braking part of the motorcycle. The Leoncino 500 gets dual disc brakes at the front.

Leoncino is a modern scrambler, and the new 250cc model will be all alone in this segment. We expect it to be priced around Rs 2 Lakhs, and in this range, there are no Scramblers. Jawa Motorcycles might launch a 300cc scrambler in near future. Other than that, it will go against the Royal Enfield bikes, Bajaj Dominar and the Jawa bikes.

Meanwhile, Benelli is planning to launch the TRK 251 as well, which will use the same engine of the Leoncino 500. The company has hinted that it will soon commence the local production of its bikes.
