The Benelli Leoncino 250 arrived sooner than we expected but being the most affordable Benelli in India, it already has a waiting period of 3-5 weeks.
Just as we were getting our heads around the Leoncino 500, Benelli has already launched its younger sibling, the Leoncino 250. The Benelli Leoncino is the most affordable Benelli motorcycle you can buy in the country, it being priced at Rs. 2.5 lakhs, ex-showroom. Of course, such a lucrative offer means that the waiting period for the Benelli Leoncino 250 is already on the rising.
Customers can book the motorcycle by paying a token amount of Rs. 6,000 at any company dealership or even on the company’s official website. However, Benelli dealerships suggest that the waiting period can go up to three to five weeks before you are actually able to lay your hands on the motorcycle. And that’s for all cities including Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Hyderabad.
Talking about the motorcycle itself, the Leoncino 250 is a neo-retro motorcycle with a slight resemblance to a Scrambler. Basically, it is very closely styled like the Leoncino 500. The Leoncino 250 gets a different headlamp when compared to the elder brother but you get the small Lion badging on the front fender, as the name “Leoncino” literally means a lion cub. It also gets different color options to differentiate it from its elder sibling.

The motorcycle is powered by a 249cc liquid-cooled EFI 4-valve engine, that produces 25.8 BHP at 9250 RPM and 21 Nm of torque at 8000 RPM. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is borrowed from the earlier sold TNT25. For suspension, it gets 41mm upside-down forks at the front and pre-load adjustable mono-shock at the back. Braking is handled by a 280mm floating disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the back with dual-channel ABS.

The motorcycle is very well equipped for its price. The Leoncino 250 gets LED headlamps, LED tail lights, digital instrument console, electronic fuel injection and dual-channel ABS, all as standard. The bike runs on 17-inch alloy wheels, weighs 162 kgs and gets a fuel tank capacity of 12.5 Litres. The deliveries considering the waiting period are expected to happen from sometime at November end, but we think it will be rather worth it.
