As if the 8-series range needed another car, BMW has added 200mm of wheelbase to the M8 Coupe with two extra doors to make the M8 Gran Coupe.
BMW’s 8 Series model range can be quite confusing to understand. First, there is the regular 8-series range which comes in three body styles – Coupe, Convertible and a 4-door Gran Coupe version. Some time ago, BMW introduced the M8 Coupe and Convertibles which are full blown M versions of the regular 8-Series Coupe and Convertible. Now, BMW has introduced the M8 Gran Coupe which is a four-door full blown M car.
The BMW M8 Gran Coupe is powered by the same 4.4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine that powers the M8 Coupe and Convertible. Power and torque figures are also identical at 600 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. The M8 Gran Coupe Competition packs gets a bump in numbers, thus producing 625 bhp.
The M8 Gran Coupe gets tow additional doors and 200mm of added wheelbase to accommodate the same. Its no slouch however. The M8 Gran Coupe can sprint from 0-100 kph in just 3.3 seconds. The Competition Pack will take it even faster with 100 kph coming up in just 3.2 seconds. The car has a top-speed of 250 kph but can be boosted up to 306 kph if opted for the optional M Driver’s Package.

Just like the M8 Coupe, the four-door Gran Coupe version comes as well kitted. It gets a variable all-wheel-drive system and an Active M differential. Various driving modes allow to you to choose for a more rear-biased setup while completely turning off everything makes the BMW M8 Gran Coupe an exclusive rear-wheel drive four-door luxury barge on steroids.

The M8 Gran Coupe does not look any different on the face or at the rear from the M8 Coupe. It’s only at the sides that you notice the extra length. The Gran Coupe competes against the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4-Door Coupe but BMW has not said anything if this car will come to India. What is surely coming to India is the standard 8-series Gran Coupe and is expected to launch sometime in mid-2020. The 840i is expected to be priced from Rs. 1.40 crores.
