Bookings Open For The India Bound 2020 Mercedes Benz GLE SUV

The SUV from Mercedes is expected to come with more than one BS6 compliance diesel engine once it hits our Indian shores

The next-gen GLE from Mercedes Benz is a much awaited SUV from the German manufacturers and is expected to launch in India by February 2020. We also took you through some spy shots of the SUV which was testing under ARAI.

The next-gen India bound Mercedes GLE SUV prices will be announced ahead of the 2020 Auto Expo. And as far as the engine specifications are concerned then it is likely to carry a more than one BS6 compliant diesel engine for our market.

It is expected that Mercedes will launch the diesel engine first followed by the petrol ones.

Talking about the GLE 300d first, then it will carry a 2.0-litre, four cylinder diesel engine. This makes a total of 245 bhp at 4,200 rpm and about 500 Nm of peak torque ranging from 1,600 – 2,400 rpm.

The bigger 3.0-litre, six cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine will come mated to GLE 400d trim. It is expected to churn 330 bhp at 3,600-4,000 rpm and 700 Nm of torque at 1,200-3,000 rpm.

A petrol engine too is expected to be on the list. It will be a 3.0-litre, in-line six cylinder unit which will produce 367 bhp with peak torque of 500 Nm. All the engines will be mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

Now taking you through the interiors of the next-gen GLE then it will get twin 12.3-inch screens, one for the instrument cluster and another a touchscreen infotainment system. Features like wireless charging, large panoramic sunroof Burmester sound system are expected to come once the car is launched.

Connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will also hit on the feature list. A multi function steering wheel will also be seen and the vehicle will carry the 4MATIC badge on all its trim which makes it an all-wheel drive SUV.

Once launched, the Mercedes-Benz GLE is expected to see a price tag of Rs 70 lakh for the base trim to an upward of Rs 80 lakh. It will compete with the likes of Audi Q7, BMW X5, Range Rover Velar and Volvo XC90.
