The electric XC40 is the first SUV in the manufacturer’s portfolio to receive wireless software updates.
Swedish carmaker, Volvo has explained the infotainment system in their upcoming electric XC40. According to the reports, the touchscreen unit gives you the same experience as you get in your phone but with a safe interaction while driving.
The infotainment system of the electric Volvo XC40 is designed in partnership with Google and is powered by Android. It will give the owners the accessibility of built-in Google features.
Henrik Green, chief technology officer, Volvo Cars, said, “We are finally giving you the same experience in your car that you’re used to on your phone, but adapted for safe interaction while driving. And by introducing over-the-air updates for everything from maintenance to completely new features, the car can stay as fresh as your other digital products, always with the latest and greatest features.”

It gets Google Assistant which will help the owners to interact with their smart devices at home from within your car. This feature also helps to access in-car functions like controlling the temperature, playing podcasts on the app or accessing the google maps in setting up a destination.
The electric Volvo XC40 will also be the first in the company’s lineup which is capable of wireless software updates. The company said that this is so because the SUV will continue to evolve and improve with time.
The Google Maps present in the SUV will now be able to tell the real time traffic and refreshed map which will eventually help the drivers in cruising their car. It will also tell the shortest route, upcoming traffic situations and most importantly any electric charging station, in case the Volvo XC40 battery needs some juice.

Since Volvo is a technologically smart car then the same maps will help in improving the capabilities of the ADAS ( Advanced Driver Assistance System) present in the XC40. The infotainment system will also get Volvo On Call which will tell the battery status and the charging level of the SUV.
This, Volvo On Call feature also offers more on the go like remote locking, finding your car in the parking lot or even pre-heating your SUV on a cold day. The SUV will be showcased in the global markets next week.
