Hyundai Creta 1.6 Diesel Variants New Cheaper Variants Launching Soon

The base E+ and EX variants of Hyundai Creta come with the 1.4 Litre diesel engine, but soon, they are going to be available with bigger 1.6 Litre engine.

Hyundai Creta is one of the best-selling SUVs in India, priced starting from Rs 9.99 Lakhs up to Rs 15.67 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Despite gaining new rivals in the segment, its sales have never been affected likewise.

Creta comes in a total of six variants – E+, EX, S, SX, SX (O), SX (O) Executive and in nearly 16 trims spread between petrol and diesel engines. It comes with three engine options – Two diesel and a petrol unit – and two transmission options.

In the base E+ and EX variants of Creta, Hyundai offers the smaller 1.4 Litre diesel unit. As for the other diesel variants, they are offered with the 1.6 Litre engine. The 1.4 Litre unit also comes on the Venue, base variants of Verna and Elite i20.

The 1.4 Litre unit produces 89 BHP and 220 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. In comparison, the 1.6 Litre engine produces 126 BHP and 220 Nm of peak torque, with the same gearbox.

The prices of 1.6 Litre variant of Hyundai Creta starts off at Rs 13.50 Lakhs, which will now come down by a Lakh or two. The base E+ and EX variants will be in both the engines, while the 1.4 Litre starts at Rs 9.99 Lakhs, the 1.6 E+ might start at 11 Lakhs.

However, once the BS-6 norms come into practice, both these engines will be discarded. The new 2020 Hyundai Creta will come with Kia Seltos’s 1.5 Litre diesel engine, that produces 120 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque. This engine is already BS-6 compliant.

The features on the E+ variant include rear parking sensors, Bluetooth-connected audio system, steering mounted audio controls, rear AC vents, USB charging slot, speed sensor door lock, dual front airbags and more. The EX variant additionally comes with touchscreen infotainment, reverse camera, alloy wheels and some more.

The new Creta will be seen at the 2020 Auto Expo, where it will get a refreshed styling, many new features and new engines as well. The features list might be similar to that of Seltos and the Bluelink from Venue will also be added. Post April 2020, the prices of Creta are likely to start off at around Rs 11 Lakhs or so.
