Hyundai Grand i10 Nios To Receive 1.0L Turbo Petrol Engine From Venue

The turbo petrol Nios will borrow the same 1.0L turbocharged petrol unit from the Venue but will be detuned to make 100 bhp from 120 bhp in the latter. It will also ditch the 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Hyundai will bring the much powerful version of the Grand i10 Nios and the car will pack a turbo petrol engine under the hood. The hot hatchback will be a premium version over the regular Nios.

The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios turbo petrol will source the turbocharger unit from the compact SUV, Venue. Although the Hyundai Venue makes 120 bhp, this hot hatchback will be detuned to follow the 100 bhp rule.

The three-cylinder unit from the Venue will pump up the power figures for the Nios. The current petrol engine from Nios generates 83 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque from the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine.

Transmission option includes a 5-speed manual transmission and comes with AMT gearbox too. For turbo petrol, the turbo petrol Nios will come with a 5 speed MT and will ditch the 7-speed DCT gearbox to keep the costs in check.

The hot hatchback will get an all-black interior, contrast stitching, floating touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connectivity features and sporty new alloy wheels.

Further to distinguish the turbo petrol over the regular Nios, we can expect to get blacked out radiator grille, dual exhaust set up and redesigned front and rear bumpers from the exteriors.

Also, with the added power the ride quality will be tuned too. So we can expect stiff suspension setup, improved handling and expect rear disc brakes too for powerful braking experience.

Upon its launch, it will sit with the already established hot hatches we have in the country. It will compete with the likes of Volkswagen GT TSI, Tata Tiago JTP and Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS. It is expected to be priced at Rs 8.60 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will come in two variants only.
