New details emerging suggest that UM Motorcycles has severed ties with Lohia Auto and has completely discontinued its operations in the Indian market.
American Company, UM Motorcycles made its debut in India back in 2014. It offered a range of old-school American-styled cruisers, the typical ones. All the four motorcycles were offered with the same engine, components, but different styling.
However, over the years the sales of UM Motorcycles fell down drastically. By the time, it was April 2019, the company reported not more than 250-300 units every month. If compared the same to last year, the sales were still above 600 units a month.
Now ET Auto reports that UM Motorcycles and Lohia Auto, its Indian partner, have entered a dispute. The India operations of UM Motorcycles has now been discontinued and might not be revived again.

Last that we reported, the dealership network of UM-Lohia was already shutting down. Now, most of the dealers are closed while some are just open for the servicing process. The production has also stopped at UM’s plant.
You might be wondering that UM was supposed to launch new motorcycles and scooters this year. All that has been put on hold, as the officials at the company have confirmed that operations are not possible in the near future.
The report also states that between the dispute of UM Motorcycles and Lohia Auto, both of them are not planning to put any efforts into the brand. Apparently, UM is already is a financial crunch back at its home.

In India, we had the UM Renegade Commando, Renegade Sport, Renegade Sport S and Renegade Classic. All of them came with the same 279cc liquid-cooled engine that produces 25.15 BHP at 8500 RPM and 23 Nm of peak torque at 7000 RPM.
Till now, the UM bikes have not received the dual-channel ABS. Our sources had earlier informed that the bikes are likely to be introduced by June itself, but so far, no luck. Looks like another automaker has left the market.
FYI, UM was supposed the launch the DSR Adventure 125 and 200, UM Chill 150 ABS scooter and the UM Regal Cruiser in India, this festive season itself. All of them were spied at a dealer meet in December 2018.
