The limited run Jawa 90th Anniversary edition is based on the standard Jawa but draws inspiration from the 1929 Jawa 500 OHV. It will have no mechanical changes however.
Its been a year since Jawa started their operations again in India as part of a Mahindra Group Company. Interestingly, this year also marks the 90th anniversary of the Jawa brand since the Czech bike maker was established in 1929. To celebrate the event, Jawa has introduced the new Jawa Anniversary Edition which will go on sale soon. It is based on the standard Jawa and will have a limited production run of only 90 units.
When Jawa set their foot back in India, they received an overwhelming response. So much so that their motorcycles saw a waiting period of over an year. However, since then, Jawa has been slowly streamlining its operations with faster product deliveries and dealers over the recent months. In spite of this, the point to note about the Jawa anniversary edition is that it will be available for immediate delivery.
The Jawa 90th Anniversary Edition will be painted in a special classic colours which replicates the original 1929 Jawa 500 OHV motorcycle’s dark-red and cream colour combination. There will also be a 90th anniversary sticker adorned by by the beautiful pin strips on the fuel tank. The motorcycle also gets black leather seats but we think that brown would have looked better, reminiscent of the seat cover seen on the original motorcycle.

However, it will continue with the same mechanical setup as the standard Jawa. It will be powered by a 293 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which produces 26 bhp and 28 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. There’s telescopic forks upfront and dual shocks at the rear. Although the motrcycle comes with disc brakes on both ends, its unclear if the 90th anniversary edition will come as a single-channel or dual-channel ABS variant.

Jawa is yet to announce the price of the 90th anniversary edition. However, the company has said that its available for immediate delivery. Customer either need to have a pre-existing booking or need to make one before October 22, 2019. The deliveries can be expected around November as that completes one year of Jawa in India. The limited edition motorcycle will see a premium over the standard ones, however, its unclear by how much. The current Jawa retails from Rs. 1.64 lakh for the single-channel ABS version, while the dual-channel model is priced at Rs. 1.73 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
