The Seltos is the first in its segment to receive BS6 compliant engine for both petrol and diesel motor. Also, on the offer is the availability of three different engine options – two petrol and one diesel.

It comes with a 1.5-litre petrol, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel and 1.4-litre turbo petrol. Mind you, the latter is the most powerful engine in the lot with about 140 bhp on tap and a 242 Nm of peak torque. Transmission option includes a 6-speed manual gearbox along with a 7-speed DCT.

The 1.5-litre, four cylinder, turbocharged, diesel engine makes the same 115 bhp on tap but a greater torque of 250 Nm. This motor is mated to 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed AT Gearbox.

One of the interesting things to notice here is the availability of three different automatic transmission option with a different engine. It is the first in its segment or any SUV present in the Indian market.

For those asking about which of the engine options is popular in the Seltos, then it is the oil burner which bags the first position, acquiring a total percentage of 50% in the market. Then the 30% of market is in favour of the turbo petrol engine and here most people are choosing the DCT over manual transmission. The last is the 1.5-litre petrol model.

The Seltos is the first made in India product for the South Korean manufacturers and their plant is set at Anantapur facility which has a 3 Lakh annual production capacity. The SUV is priced aggressively at a starting price of Rs 9.69 lakh and the top variant goes till Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
