This is our first look at the new Mitsubishi Super Height K-Wagon concept. It’s a compact MPV, designed to meet Japan’s rigorous Kei car regulations, which blends SUV styling with economy and practicality. It’s set to be unveiled at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, alongside the brand’s new MI-TECH concept SUV.
According to the brand’s teaser image the Super Height K-Wagon is like most Kei cars: narrow, tall and riding on tiny wheels. SUV-inspired styling features should appear, such as a pair of chunky roof rails, rugged plastic wheel arch cladding and the brand’s familiar ‘Dynamic Shield’ radiator grille design, as found on the new Mitsubishi ASX.

It remains unconfirmed if the K-Wagon features a conventional or electrified powertrain. If its underpinnings conform with current Kei-car regulations it could be powered by the same 63bhp turbocharged 660cc three-cylinder petrol engine found in Mitsubishi’s existing range of “eK” branded microcars. It would likely share the same CVT gearbox and four-wheel-drive system as the off-road inspired Mitsubishi eK Cross.
As with the Mitsubishi MI-TECH SUV concept, the Super Height K-Wagon concept will preview Mitsubishi’s latest MI-PILOT active driver assistance technology. Features include a lane-keeping assist system, forward collision mitigation braking, active steering assist and a mis-acceleration avoidance system.
