When combined together then the motor churns out a whopping 121 bhp on tap and it gets a CVT gearbox.

A new spy shot of the 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid has been surfacing the internet. This nex gen Corolla was spotted in the Malaysian markets and it is based on the TNGA platform.

This 12th Generation Toyota Corolla Hybrid looks similar to the conventional fuel siblings and we are not sure if it will come in the Indian markets by 2020. This new hybrid model generates more power and gets BS6 compliant engines.

The interiors receive an all-black treatment and the multi function steering wheel with cruise control. It also gets an EV button mode. Soe of the features we can expect re the 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This will come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as connectivity features. It will get different drive modes, Smart Key, multi airbags and among others.

Mechanically, the sedan gets a 1.8-litre, four cylinder, petrol motor under the hood. It makes 98 bhp with a peak torque of 142 Nm. The car will come in CVT transmission and it will get an electric motor which sends power to the front wheels. Hence, it churns out a combined power output of 121 bhp.

While we are talking about the upcoming hybrid model which will launch in the markets soon, we should throw light if the new Altis, altogether, come to the Indian market or not?

Some reports suggest that Toyota Corolla Altis might not see the light of 2020. It is because of the high cost of upgrading the BS4 engines to the new emission norms which will set its foot in April 2020.

Another important reason for driving out the Corolla from the Indian markets for good is because of the low sales. The Altis is sold in 1.8L petrol and 1.4L diesel engines and the sales of both have been declining for long.

Currently, the Toyota Corolla is priced at Rs 16.44 lakh for the base trim and the top model sees a price tag of Rs 20.19 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It competes with the likes of Honda Civic, Skoda Octavia and the recently launched Hyundai Elantra facelift.
