The City Hatchback might replace the Honda Jazz in the coming future because of the poor sales of the latter.

Honda City is one such product from the Japanese carmaker that as seen its success globally as well as Indian market. Now, new reports suggest that a hatchback will also be derived from the Honda City.

We are unsure of this fact that whether the Honda City hatchback will replace the Jazz globally and in Indian markets. Honda recently applied for the City hatchback registered trademark at the Malaysian Intellectual Property Office.

The hatchback will follow the design philosophy like the other Honda cars. If the City hatchback will come to the Indian markets then it is speculated to compete with the likes of premium B Segment cars. That includes Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Hyundai Elite i20 and Volkswagen Polo.

Honda will launch the City sedan globally in November and it is expected to be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo for the Indian markets. The City is one such popular C segment sedan which competes with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, Toyota Yaris and Volkswagen Vento.

The next-gen Honda City will carry a revamped exterior and interior design. A couple of rendered images have been surfacing on the internet showing the aesthetics of the upcoming sedan.

The new Honda City looks fresh in its design and adds a sporty appeal. The front fascia gets LED treatment on the headlights and foglights. It gets a new mesh grille and an upright nose and it will sit on new 16 inchers.

Talking about the engine of the new sedan then it will carry forward the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel motor. It will be BS6 compliant and transmission option will stick to a 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox for the petrol and a 6-speed manual for the oil burner. We can also expect an automatic transmission for the diesel engine.
