Finally, Yamaha is going to launch the new YZF R3 in India this year. Along with a new design language, the R3 will get new features and revised ergonomics.
Yamaha is most likely to bring in the new 2020 Yamaha YZF R3 to India in December this year. The latest version was recently unveiled globally, which got some cosmetic changes and made it look a lot more “New-Gen Yamaha Motorcycles”.
Mechanically, the motorcycle remains the same as earlier. In 2018, the next-gen R3 was launched globally that continued with the same engine but got revised ergonomics, completely refreshed design and a fully new digital instrument console.
In the generation update, the R3 now looks like an elder brother to the R15 V3, but a younger sibling to the YZF R1. You get a sharper and sleeker styling with the right amount of creases, cuts and muscles over the body.

At the front, you get split LED tail lamps flanking the large faux air dam on the cowl. The side apron also gets refreshed, making it a bit neat looking. The fuel tank also gets some beefing up and that with the low-placed clip-ons will offer a dedicated riding position.
The engine specifications of the new Yamaha R3 for India, will remain the same. It will continue with the parallel-twin 321cc liquid-cooled engine, that produces 41 BHP at 10750 RPM and 29.6 Nm of peak torque at 9000 RPM, with a 6-speed gearbox.
While the global model uses USD forks at the front, the Indian version will continue with telescopic forks up front and a swingarm with monoshock at the back. Single disc brakes at both the ends with dual-channel ABS will come as standard.

For its India launch, Yamaha needs to price it competitively, so that it gathers more attention. As of now, it is not sold in India and comes at a price of Rs 3.49 Lakhs (ex-showroom). Its bitter rival, Kawasaki Ninja 300, comes with Rs 50,000 cheaper.
With all these updates including the BS-6 compliant engine, we are expecting the prices of 2020 Yamaha R3 to go up to Rs 3.7 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). It will still be one of the priciest but most fun to ride motorcycles.
