Benelli has launched the Imperiale 400 in India, priced at Rs 1.69 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The retro cruiser goes against the likes of Royal Enfield Classic.
Benelli has launched another motorcycle in India and it is the much-awaited Imperiale 400. The retro-styled cruiser is priced at Rs 1.69 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and is the fourth bike from Benelli after TRK 502, Benelli Leoncino 500 and Leoncino 250.
The bookings for the bike opened a week ago for Rs 4,000. The Benelli Imperiale 400 comes in three colour options – Red, Silver and Black. Also, Benelli offers the Best-In-Class 3-Year Unlimited Kilometre Warranty as Standard. First Two years of free service is also offered as a complimentary.
The Imperiale 400 uses a new 374cc SOHC air-cooled BS-4 engine with electronic fuel injection. The engine produces 21 BHP at 5500 RPM and 29 Nm of torque at 4500 RPM. In comparison, the power is 2 BHP higher than the Classic but the torque is 3 Nm lower. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The cruiser is built on a compact and durable double cradle frame. The suspension is handled by 41mm telescopic forks at the front and pre-load adjustable dual shock absorbers at the back. Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc brake and a 240mm rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS as standard.
The Imperiale is 2170mm long, 820mm wide and 1120mm tall. The wheelbase is 1440mm and the ground clearance is 165mm. The seat height is perfect at 780mm. The bike weighs in at 205 kgs, which makes it heavier than the Classic as well as Bullet by nearly 13 kgs.
The fuel tank capacity is 12 Litres. With an expected mileage of 30 kmpl, the bike should be able to deliver a riding range of anything between 360-400 kms on a full tank.

The Benelli Imperiale 400 gets a classy retro appeal with the tear-drop fuel tank, round headlamps, twin-pod analogue console, the split seating and the exposed body parts. Just like the RE motorcycles, even the Imperiale is made for the long tours.
