Tata Motors has removed the auto-door lock system on the Tiago, to make it meet the global NCAP’s 5-star safety requirement.
Tata Nexon is the safest car in India, with 5-star safety rating by NCAP. Also, it is the first car in India to receive the certification. Seems like Tata wants the same compliments for its hatchback as well.
Turns out that Tata Tiago is aiming for a 5-star safety rating for Global NCAP. On Twitter, in a reply to a fellow user, Tata replied that the auto door lock feature has been removed to meet the requirements.
In case of a crash, the doors still remain locked, which might lead to an unfortunate event for the occupants of the car. With the auto-door lock feature, once the vehicle is in motion, the doors are locked automatically and are opened by the car is switched off.

Reports suggest that a lot of models are already without the feature, through the ECUP update. Basically, now you have to check if the doors are locked every time you start driving the car. An extra effort, but is safe.
By the NCAP standards, the auto-door lock system should lock the vehicle after attaining certain speed and should be automatically unlocked in case of a crash or if you switch off the car.
In other news, Tata has launched the Wizz Edition of Tiago, again. It is based on the XZ petrol trim and demands Rs 10,000 more. It just gets some cosmetic differences inside the cabin as well on the outside. Features include a multi-function steering wheel, adjustable wing mirrors, 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, remote central locking and others.

Tata is going to discontinue the diesel variants of Tiago and Tigor, in the wake of upcoming BS-6 norms. The 1.05 Litre Revotorq diesel engine would not be upgraded further, and just like a lot of them, Tiago and Tigor will be all-petrol models.
