Tata Motors have confirmed that the Nexon EV will see its India launch in Q4 of the financial year 2019-20 and will be the first car to use ZIPTRON tech!
Tata Motors have finally confirmed that the Nexon EV will launch in India as early as Q4 of the financial year 2019-20. That means it would launch in between January to March of 2020. The Tata Nexon EV will also be the first car to be powered by the Ziptrom EV technology that Tata debut just sometime ago. Tata hasn’t announced much details about the Nexon EV yet but they are targeting a driving range of 300 km on a single charge with the Nexon EV. The car is expected to be priced between Rs. 15-17 lakhs.
Mr. Shailesh Chandra, President – Electric Mobility Business & Corporate Strategy, Tata Motors Ltd. said, “We are proud to announce that Nexon EV will be available for personal buyers in India from Q4 (Jan-Mar) FY19-20. Powered by the cutting-edge Ziptron technology, Nexon EV promises to address the barriers that exist in the EV market today and will deliver a thrilling on-road performance, ensuring zero emission.
This new ZIPTRON EV powertrain technology sources power from advanced lithium-ion cells and it also features liquid cooling. It will be packed in a solid IP67 case which provides a high strength outer shell to protect critical EV components and also serves for waterproofing and dust protection. It also supports fast charging.
The company is also providing a warranty of eight years on the battery pack and the electric motor. Usually, extremes of temperature affect the performance of batteries but this system has been specifically designed for Indian weather and traffic conditions and comes with a dedicated cooling circuit to provide consistent performance.

Tata Motors have also rolled out a rather extensive advertising campaign for the Nexon EV which they are calling the #TheUltimateElectricDrive. Tata will basically be driving the Nexon EV from Manali to Leh across some of the toughest terrains in India, covering the high altitude Himalayan passes with unpaved roads and steep gradients, with limited charging infrastructure and under extreme weather conditions.

The Tata Nexon EV will compete against the likes of the all-electric Mahindra XUV300 and intends to make EVs more accessible to the masses.
