This new-gen Passat was introduced in 2017 and we expect the reason for its discontinuation after 2 years is due to poor sales
Volkswagen Passat, the premium D-segment sedan from the German manufacturers has been exited from India. Yes, this is the reason why the car isn’t available in the offer sections too which is applicable to all Volkswagen cars.
So the manufacturers have stopped the production of the Passat, so, only a few dealers have the sedan in a handful number of units. The sedan still comes in the BS4 compliant diesel engine and we can expect a facelifted model of the Passat in 2020 itself which will be BS6 compliant.
Talking about the mechanicals then Volkswagen Passat is only available in a 2.0-litre, four cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine only. This motor is mated to a 6-speed DSG gearbox and churns out a total 174 bhp on tap with a peak torque of 350 Nm.
