BS-6 Renault Duster To Get A Turbo-Petrol Engine?

Renault is planning to bring more petrol engines after its decision to discontinue diesel engines. The BS-6 Renault Duster might get new petrol engines onboard.

Just like Maruti Suzuki, Renault has also decided to discontinue diesel engines altogether, post-April 2020. The manufacturer will stick to petrol cars for the near future and will further add more petrol engines in the lineup.

Currently, the Duster uses a 1.5 Litre DCe petrol engine, that puts out 106 BHP and 142 Nm of peak torque. Going by various reports, Renault might replace the existing engine with two new petrol engines, from the Euro-spec Duster.

In the recently launched Euro-spec facelift, the Duster was upgraded with a 1.3 Litre DCe turbo-petrol engine and a 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol engine. We are expecting that the BS-6 Renault Duster might use both these new engines.

For starters, the 1.3 Litre turbo-petrol unit produces 130 BHP and 240 Nm of peak torque. In a higher state of tuning, it puts out 150 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque. The smaller 1.0 Litre unit produces 100 BHP and 160 Nm of peak torque.

What Renault could possibly do is offer the 1.0 Litre unit on the base and mid-spec variants, whereas the 1.3 Litre engine could come on the top-spec and AWD variants. However, we are yet to get an official word from Renault regarding its future engines lineup.

Renault has already started testing its BS-6 Duster petrol and various test mules have been spied till now. In July, Renault upgraded the Duster with a facelift. The new version got refreshed styling and many new features.
