The BS-6 Honda City Petrol is expected to cost 35,000-40,000 more than the BS-4 version and the launch is expected to happen in a few weeks time with deliveries starting from December.
Honda has unofficially started taking bookings for the BS-6 compliant Honda City petrol and according to a report by Autocar India, the market launch and price announcement of the BS-6 Honda City petrol will likely happen this month itself. Also, deliveries of the car will likely start in December, based on the company dispatches.
Honda received type approval for the City BS6 1.5 petrol sometime ago. The City will be first car from Honda to be BS-6 compliant for India. Meanwhile, the City’s key rival – the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz – is on sale in its BS-6 guise for quite a few months now. The BS-6 complaint 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine in the city will put out 119hp, just like its BS4-compliant counterpart.
The engine will continue to be mated to a manual gearbox as standard. However, official details of a CVT gearbox are yet to be confirmed. We expect the BS-6 complaint Honda City to cost Rs 35,000-40,000 more than the BS4 version. Other than the update to the engine, the City remains virtually unchanged. That means it will continue to be offered in four trim levels – SV, V, VX and ZX.

As for its features, the base-spec City SV gets dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, LED DRLs, 15-inch alloy wheels, remote locking, power wing mirrors and windows, automatic air conditioner, Bluetooth-compatible audio system and cruise control. The mid-spec City V adds a 7.0-inch touchscreen, keyless entry and go, and a rear camera.

Moving higher up to the VX trim, it additionally gets a sunroof, telescopic steering adjust, auto-dimming rear-view mirror and larger 16-inch alloy wheels. Features like the side and curtain airbags, LED headlamps, auto headlights and wipers and leatherette upholstery will remain exclusive to the range-topping City ZX. The diesel engine in the city will also receive the BS-6 update but that will happen closer to the April 2020 deadline. Meanwhile, Honda will be unveiling a new generation of the City in Thailand later this month and this model will come to India in the second half of 2020.
