Hyundai Announces An All-New Sedan “Aura” For India; Might Be Based On Xcent

Hyundai has announced its upcoming all-new sedan for India, which will be named Aura. We are expecting it to be seen in a production-ready version at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Just like Hyundai launched the Grand i10 Nios, it confirmed that the same will be done with Xcent. Just now, the company has dropped in a teaser that is about an all-new sedan named “Aura” being launched soon.

Just like that, we expect that the new sedan is none other than the Hyundai Xcent Aura. It has been spied testing on the roads a couple of times. Just like the changes on Grand i10 Nios, the Aura will get similar changes onboard.

Onboard the new Hyundai Xcent Aura, we are expecting the same 1.2 Litre petrol and diesel engines with BS-6 compliance. The 1.2 Litre petrol engine produces 83PS and 114Nm of torque, while the diesel engine puts out 75PS and 190Nm of torque. Since the Nios is speculated to get the new 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol engine, it remains a mystery if the same engine will come on Xcent Aura.

The transmission options will be a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard on both the engines. Ditching the 4-speed AT, the Aura might get the new in-house developed 5-speed AMT, which will go with petrol as well as diesel engines.

Talking about the features, we can expect a new large floating touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, digital speedometer with MID, voice recognition, wireless phone charger, auto AC, keyless entry, tilt steering, rear AC vents. Also, the Xcent Aura could come with Blue Link technology however not with the same features that come on Venue.

Changes in the styling will include refreshed bumpers, new alloy wheels, revised bonnet styling and also addition of some sporty bits. Inside the cabin, we can expect a new dashboard design and new upholstery as well. In terms of dimensions, we can see the Xcent Aura a bit wider than the current outgoing version.

The current-gen Xcent is priced from Rs 5.81 lakh to Rs 8.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Hyundai Xcent Aura will certainly command a premium over the current price on account of the BS-VI engines and added features.
