Hyundai has confirmed the engines that will be available on the new Aura, including BS-6 versions of its current 1.2 Litre petrol and diesel engines.
Hyundai is gearing up for the new Aura sedan, which will be based on the Xcent. Ahead of its launch at the 2020 Auto Expo, Hyundai has revealed the set of engines that will come on board the new sedan.
As expected, it will continue with the 1.2 Litre petrol and 1.2 Litre diesel engines, in BS-6 compliant forms. Good news is that it will be the first sedan in its segment to get a turbo-petrol engine. Venue’s 1.0 Litre turbo-charged GDi petrol engine will be onboard the Aura. The sedan also has Advanced NOx TrapCatalyst and PM Filters to minimize the environmental pollution and optimise ‘After Treatment System’ performance.
Hyundai has not revealed the technical specifications as of now. But the petrol and diesel engines of Hyundai Aura will get 5-speed MT as standard and the new 5-speed AMT gearbox from Santro. The turbo-petrol engine will only come with a 5-speed MT.

The 1.2 Litre Kappa Dual VTVT engine produces 83 BHP and 114 Nm of peak torque in its current form. The 1.2 Litre U2 CRDi diesel unit puts out 75 BHP and 190 Nm of peak torque. With BS-6 engines, the power figures are unlikely to change.
As for the 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol unit, it produces 120 BHP and 176 Nm of peak torque on the Venue. However, on the Hyundai Aura, the same petrol unit might produce somewhere around 100 BHP. The power will be reduced keeping the fuel efficiency in mind.
Along with this, the new Aura will undergo a complete makeover. On the outside, the sedan will get a fresh set of bumpers, new alloy wheels and a revised set of headlamps and tail lamps. Inside the cabin, there will be some refreshments to the dashboard and upholstery material.

New features could include a digital speedometer with MID, voice recognition, wireless phone charger, auto AC, keyless entry, tilt steering, rear AC vents. We are also expecting Hyundai to offer the Blue Link technology on Aura, but with lesser features than what is seen on Venue.
