Hyundai will Continue to Sell the Xcent Alongside the Aura!

Hyundai realizes the popularity of the Xcent in the fleet market and have thus decided to keep it alive and that is also the reason why the re-branded the new car with the name ‘Aura’.

Just yesterday, Hyundai confirmed the name of the Xcent’s successor. Its going to be called the Aura and its brand’s new compact sedan. Hyundai wouldn’t retain the Xcent name for this all-new compact sedan and its only a few months away from its launch. However, while the Aura will become the successor of the Xcent in Hyundai’s lineup, the Xcent itself is here to stay as well.

Hyundai will continue to sell the Xcent alongside the Aura but for commercial buyers only.

Hyundai is aware of the fact that the Xcent has been an absolute hit with the fleet operator. They do not want their all-new compact sedan to be borne in the minds of people with the same image of being a cab or taxi. That is why they have come up with this new name – Aura – but Hyundai will also keep the Xcent nameplate alive and is expected to offer it in lower-spec trims for commercial-use buyers only.

This means that the Xcent will also receive a significant update for 2020. It will firstly have to comply with the BS-6 emission norms and thus the engines will be upgraded to BS-6 spec. The Xcent will also be updated to meet the pedestrian protection norms that come into effect from October 2020. In order to meet the pedestrian safety norms, there will be sheet metal changes which will give Hyundai the opportunity to facelift the Xcent for a second time in six years since its launch.

Another strong reason why Hyundai will keep the Xcent alive is the fact that, post April 2020, the diesel engined Maruti Suzuki Dzire will not be available anymore. This means that Hyundai can have all the space in the fleet market all by themselves. With Hyundai having to invest a fair deal into it, the Xcent is likely to continue for quite some time to come.

Meanwhile, we expect the Hyundai Auro to arrive by the 2020 Auto Expo. This all-new compact sedan is based on the Grand i10 Nios hatchback and is expected to come with BS6-compliant petrol and diesel engines when it is launched in the coming months. It will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and the likes.
