Jawa and Jawa Forty Two To Get A Bigger 334cc Engine

The slightly bigger 334cc engine from the Jawa Perak will be available on the Forty-Two and Jawa as well, by June 2020.

Classic Legends have now launched Jawa’s third motorcycle, Perak. The factory-custom Bobber motorcycle is priced at Rs 1.95 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It was showcased alongside the Jawa and Forty-Two back in November 2018.

The Jawa Perak comes with a bigger 334cc engine, which is soon going to come on the Jawa Forty Two and Jawa as well. As of now, both use a heavily reworked 293cc liquid-cooled engine that comes on the Mahindra Mojo.

Reports say that Jawa and Jawa Forty Two with the bigger engine will be sold alongside the existing variants. As of now, both of them are in the development process and we can expect them to be launched with a bigger engine, by mid-2020.

The 334cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine just gets a bigger bore than the 293cc engine. The bigger unit produces 30 BHP and 31 Nm of peak torque, while the 293cc engine produces 27 BHP and 28 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines come mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

Also, the engine on the Perak is already BS-6 compliant. As of now, the Perak is only available in cities where BS-6 fuel is widely sold. Not every city has adapted to the BS-6 fuel, which might be the reason for Classic Legends to launch the Forty-Two with a bigger engine next year.

With this, the prices of Jawa and Forty-Two will increase by around Rs 15,000. As of now, the Forty-Two is priced from 1.55 Lakhs up to Rs 1.64 Lakhs. The regular Jawa starts off at Rs 1.64 Lakhs going up to Rs 1.73 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices). The extra 9000 demanded is for the dual-channel ABS.

Next year, Jawa is going to introduce new motorcycles which might include a cruiser, an adventure motorcycle and a cafe racer as well. Last year, some sketches were leaked which showed the different bikes that are planned.
