Reports suggest that Maruti has commenced production of Vitara Brezza with a new petrol unit. The diesel engines will be soon discontinued on the SUV.
We all know for the fact that Maruti Suzuki is discontinuing diesel engines from April 2020. All the cars will be available with petrol engines only from the next year, with diesel engine still under consideration for only bigger cars.
Gaadiwaadi reports that Maruti has commenced the production of Vitara Brezza petrol. The SUV is soon going to get a facelift which will only come with a petrol engine. The facelift has already been spied testing once but under heavy camouflage.
Maruti Vitara Brezza will get Suzuki’s new 1.5 Litre SHVS petrol engine. The motor comes on the XL6, Ciaz and Ertiga as of now. It produces 104.7 BHP and 138 Nm of peak torque on all the models and will continue to produce the same on Brezza.

Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed gearbox and a 5-speed AMT as well. The mild-hybrid engine also gets a small electric motor, and this, in turn, will help Vitara to offer high fuel efficiency.
As of now, it comes with the 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel engine, that produces the 90 BHP and 200 Nm of peak torque. While Maruti has hinted that if the demand is still there, it might think of introducing BS-6 diesel engines. But, as of now, it is not sure yet.
Reports suggest that the 1.5 Litre diesel unit from the Ciaz is the one that could be BS-6 in future. It is a new in-house developed engine behind which Maruti has spent a fortune. Otherwise, reports also suggest that the 1.6 Litre DDiS diesel engine from S-Cross might make a comeback. The SUV has been spied testing with the new diesel engine.

The facelifted Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol is likely to get new features such as an electric sunroof, new touchscreen infotainment, LED projector headlamps with DRLs and more. Cosmetic changes might include tweaks to the front and rear bumpers with some hints of upgrade inside the cabin.
