The Mercedes Benz GLC facelift comes with quite some cosmetic changes on the outside, new features and BS-6 compliant new engines as well.
Just some time ago, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class facelift was spotted testing in India. The GLC facelift has been in the international market for some time but it was yet to come to India, until now. Mercedes-Benz India have announced that they will launch the GLC facelift in the country on December 3, 2019. The refreshed GLC made its global debut earlier this year at the 2019 Geneva motor show.
The changes on the exterior are quite subtle but still significant enough. The Mercedes GLC facelift gets a completely new headlamp unit with new DRLs that now frame the headlamp unit. The grille has also been tweaked slightly and it gets new bumpers as well. The changes to the face are not much but still makes it look a lot fresher.
The side profile of SUV remains relatively unchanged but it gets new multi-spoke alloy wheels. At the rear, the changes are more significant. It gets a revised tail gate with new LED tail lamps and the bumpers have also been redesigned slightly. The new inserts for the tail-lamps have a design similar to the next-gen GLE and GLS models – both of which are yet to come to India. In fact, its easier to tell the facelift from the rear than from the front.

The international-spec interiors of the GLC comes with quite a few updates. It gets a large, 10.25-inch unit touchscreen which comes with the latest MBUX system. The new MBUX with ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice command and a large central touchpad will be introduced for the first time on the GLC range. The GLC facelift also gets an all-digital instrument cluster for the first time, as seen on other more expensive Mercedes cars. There are also a few revised control surfaces. We expect these updates to make it to the India-spec model as well.

However, the most significant update lies under the hood. Interestingly, the current GLC in India is powered by a BS-4 compliant 2.1 liter diesel engine. With the facelift however, Mercedes will drop the 2.1 liter diesel engine in favour of a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine. The same engine is also offered on the C-Class and E-Class sedans. There will also be a BS-6 compliant petrol engine on offer. Both the engines will come mated to Mercedes’ 9-speed automatic gearbox. The refreshed GLC will rival the likes of the Land Rover Discovery Sport, the BMW X3 and the Volvo XC60 in our market.
