Mercedes-Benz Launches Top-Spec V-Class Elite in India for Rs. 1.1 Crore!

The new Mercedes-Benz V-Class Elite is based on the facelifted version sold intentionally and it gets several cosmetic, feature and mechanical upgrades over the standard V-Class.

Mercedes-Benz India has launched a new top-spec variant of the V-Class luxury MPV. Its called the Mercedes-Benz V-Class Elite and it has been launched in India for a price of Rs. 1.1 crore (ex-showroom, India). The Elite is based on the V-class facelift that was introduced in the international markets earlier this year. It will be available in a long wheelbase version measuring 5,140 mm and in six-seater form only.

What sets this top-spec V-Class apart visually? Well, the V-Class Elite gets a new front bumper with a larger air dam and chrome highlights, tweaked LED headlights and a revised front grille. It will be available in a total of seven colour options – Steel Blue, Selenite Grey, Graphite Grey Dark, Obsidian Black Metallic, Cavensite Blue Metallic, Rock Crystal White Metallic and Brilliant Silver Metallic. There will also be three different wheel designs – from 17-inchers to 18-inch alloys – to choose from.

The interiors of the V-Class Elite largely remain unchanged from the standard V-Class. However, there are some differences in the form of a new dashboard trim, turbine-style AC vents from newer Mercedes models and a larger display for the infotainment system. The real party trick of the V-Class are however those rear seats. They are of course power adjustable and can be reclined up to 49 degrees. They even come with ventilation and massage functions, along with an adjustable leg rest.

On the features front, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class Elite gets Nappa leather upholstery (silk beige or black), dual-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a folding and movable centre table at the rear, a 640W Burmester sound system that includes 15 speakers, a 360-degree parking camera and a rear window that opens for easier access to the boot. There’s also a panoramic sunroof as an optional extra. Standard safety kit includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, attention assist and active parking assist.

The Mercedes-Benz V-Class Elite in India is powered by a BS6-compliant OM654 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine that produces 163hp and 380Nm of torque. In fact, the power and torque figures remain identical to the previous older OM651 engine that powers the existing Expression and Exclusive variants. The engine comes mated to a 9-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox in place of the 7-speed unit on the other two variants. Also, just in case you want to know, this van can do the 0-100 kph sprint in just 11 seconds.

Mercedes-Benz launched the standard V-Class in India earlier this year in January at a price of Rs 68.40 lakh in two variants. These two trims are however based on the pre-facelift model and and will continue to be on sale. The entry-level Expression variant is based on the extra-long wheelbase (5,370mm) and is available as a seven-seater only. Meanwhile, the Exclusive has a shorter wheelbase (5,140mm) and is a six-seater only. The Mercedes-Benz V-Class will rival the upcoming Toyota Vellfire in India.
