Like all other previous Black Badge Edition cars, the Rolls Royce Cullinan also receives an all black treatment on the outside and inside but also gets a significant bump in power.
You know that when Rolls Royce comes out with a Black Badge edition of some car, its always going to be something special. Rolls Royce has now unveiled the Cullinan Black Badge Edition, giving the super-luxury SUV design changes and a bump in power to justify the badge.
As is synonymous with all Black Badge edition cars, this Cullinan comes painted in gloss black and the Spirit of Ecstacy also receives a black accent, for the first time encompassing the mascot’s mounting plate. The usual chrome bits in a Cullinan which include the front grille surround, side frame finishers, boot handle, boot trim, lower air inlet finisher and exhaust pipes, have all been finished in a darker shade. The double R badge on the front, flanks and aft invert have been finished in silver-on-black.
The gloss paint finishes are absolutely of the highest standards and the chrome surfaces, while they look black are actually not black. In fact, they are so well polished that they look black reflecting the black around them. There’s also a yellow pinstrip along the shoulder line of the SUV. This luxury SUV now rides on newly designed be-spoke 22-inch forged alloy wheels and the brake callipers have been gloss red.
On the inside, the black theme continues. Of course, it gets an all-black interior theme draped in abundance of leather with yellow detailing features throughout the cabin. The Black Badge also adds a headliner woven with fibre optic lights to resemble the night sky – a feature premiered in 2016 on the Wraith. But what’s really interesting is a new carbon veneer that has been used as inlays in the cabin.
A naked-weave carbon-fibre finish has been developed to create highly accurate repeating geometrical shapes that produce a powerful three-dimensional effect. Each leaf of technical Carbon is finished with six coats of lacquer before being left to cure for 72 hours then hand-polished to Rolls-Royce’s hallmark mirror finish. It has almost seen the creation of a new luxury material.
It was at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016, when Rolls-Royce presented the Black Badge; a permanent bespoke family of motor cars that defined the taste patterns of an emerging generation of super-luxury consumer. The company debuted the Black Badge with the Wraith and Ghost in 2016 followed by the Dawn in 2017. The Cullinan is now the newest member of the Black Badge family.

Most Black Badge edition cars just get cosmetic changes on the outside and the inside. However, this Rolls Royce Cullinan gets an updated engine as well. It is powered by a 6.75-litre V12 engine that now delivers 600hp and 900Nm, as opposed to the 571hp and 850Nm of torque that is available on the standard Cullinan. The engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. It also continues with the four-wheel steering system and there are changes to suspension components and settings which add more dynamism and refinement to the SUV. However, Rolls-Royce has yet to release performance or economy figures for the model.

However the standard Rolls Royce Cullinan is on sale in India for a whopping Rs. 6.75 crore, ex-showroom.
